Forza Horizon 6 Data Out: send live telemetry to your phone
Data Out is the game’s own setting that streams what your car is doing (speed, gear, revs, tyre heat and slip, G-force, lap times) to another device on your network, many times a second. Here is how to point it at your phone for Live Doctor in Copperquill, and what to check when nothing arrives.
Before you start
- Forza Horizon 6 on a PC or an Xbox, and an Android phone with Copperquill.
- The phone on Wi‑Fi, on the same home network as the PC or console. The PC or console can be on Wi‑Fi or plugged into the router.
- No internet connection is needed: the data goes straight from the game to the phone inside your own network.
Set it up in six steps
It takes about two minutes.
- 1. Join the same Wi‑Fi
- Connect the phone to the same network as the PC or console: the main network, not a guest network.
- 2. Open Live Doctor
- In Copperquill, open Festival Ledger, then Live Doctor. It shows this phone’s IP address and the port, 9876.
- 3. Turn on Data Out
- In Forza Horizon 6, go to Settings › HUD and Gameplay and set Data Out to On.
- 4. Type in the phone’s address
- Enter the phone’s IP address exactly as Live Doctor shows it (for example 192.168.1.23) and set the port to 9876.
- 5. Tap CONNECT
- Back on the phone, tap CONNECT. On Android 17 and later the phone asks for access to nearby devices: tap Allow. That is Android’s name for your local network; nothing is sent to the internet.
- 6. Drive
- The dash wakes up with the first packet. Speed, revs and tyres work anywhere in the game; lap times come only in an event, once its clock starts.
Menu names are given in English. In another game language, look for the same place in the HUD and Gameplay settings.
Nothing arrives? Check these
- The IP address in the game matches the phone. A phone can get a new address after a router restart; Live Doctor tells you when it changed.
- The port in the game is 9876, the one Live Doctor listens on.
- Not a guest network, and no “AP isolation” or “client isolation” on the router: both keep devices on the same Wi‑Fi from reaching each other.
- No VPN running on the PC: it sends the game’s packets somewhere else.
- The phone is on Wi‑Fi, not mobile data. CONNECT stays greyed out until the phone has a Wi‑Fi address.
- On Android 17 and later, nearby devices is allowed. If you refused it, Live Doctor’s OPEN SETTINGS key takes you to the app’s settings: Permissions › Nearby devices › Allow.
- The game runs on your own PC or console. Cloud gaming (for example GeForce NOW) runs it on a remote computer, so its Data Out cannot reach your home network.
- Lap times empty? The game sends them only in an event, such as a race or Rivals, not in free roam.
What Live Doctor does with the data
Live Doctor turns the packets into a live dash, the heat and slip of each tyre, and a count of how much of a run you spent in understeer, oversteer and wheelspin. Every lap and run is kept in a history for each circuit, sprint and drag strip, on the phone only.
Showing understeer or oversteer? Here is what to change in the tune. The phone’s screen stays on while Live Doctor is open, so plug it in for a long session.
Questions
Does Forza Horizon 6 Data Out need an internet connection?
No. The game sends its packets over your local network straight to the address you enter. Copperquill only listens for them on your Wi‑Fi; nothing goes to the internet.
Which IP address and port do I enter in the game?
Your phone’s IP address on the Wi‑Fi (Live Doctor shows it, for example 192.168.1.23) and port 9876.
Does Data Out work on Xbox?
Yes. The Xbox version has the same Data Out setting: enter the phone’s IP address and port 9876, with the console and the phone on the same network.
Why do I see speed and revs but no lap times?
The game sends lap times only during an event, once its clock is running. In free roam Live Doctor shows the dash and the tyres, and the lap card waits.
